Alek Neuman is a frustrated Jewish immigrant in Brooklyn's Brighton Beach, who lives his life as a dishwasher and alcoholic. He could have been a professional boxer, but things turned out differently. Then he meets two boys from the street who have the potential to become great boxers, and he offers to become their trainer.
