"If looks could kill..."
In search of answers to the murder of her married lover Josef Somer, Brooke Reynolds visits his psychiatrist, Dr. Sam Rice. Sam is immediately attracted to Brooke, whom he only knew from conversations with Josef. When he discovers that her father has died mysteriously and that she bears a close resemblance to a woman who stalks him, he becomes obsessed with her. When the police ask him what he knows about the relationship between Brooke and Josef, he invokes his professional secrecy, although he suspects that she could be the perpetrator. Both fearing and lusting after her, he is then plagued by nightmares that he could be her next victim.

Nice film in which a psychiatrist is questioned by the police when a patient of his is murdered. A Hitchcock-like thriller with a not very original story and a somewhat easy and disappointing denouement. However, a number of well-constructed scenes with the exciting auction scene as a highlight.

The comparison with Brian De Palma was also mentioned above and I saw that too, except that this thing does nothing in terms of atmosphere, is visually boring and very dull and not exciting for a moment. I really didn't like the film. And even then, in her younger years, Streep was mainly acting. What she does is not super theatrical but she very subtly puts everything on too thick and I really don't like that at all and it's annoying to watch. 1.0*.

Slow, fairly intelligent thriller, with surreptitious advertising for Tabcola and Gaulloises. Streep in her rise to one of the better actresses and Roy Scheider gives a good fight. End could have been a bit more inventive given the suspense that is processed in the film. Nevertheless worth watching.
