"No flag, no backup, and no mercy."
After a secret operation abroad goes catastrophically wrong, the Global Response & Intelligence Team (GRIT) is used as a scapegoat by the US government. They are officially labeled as terrorists and "rogue agents." A large part of the team is arrested and held in a high-security military facility, awaiting a trial that will likely end in their execution. Brandon Beckett is the only one who manages to escape. He refuses to give up on his team and launches an illegal rescue mission to free his friends.

Mediocre action movie. This film doesn't rely on the story, but that is permissible within the genre. The execution is mixed. The film starts off decent but then sags considerably. The build-up to the action-packed final quarter takes too long and is quite boring. The ending redeems it somewhat with strong, professionally executed action scenes. This installment is a bit tougher and less lighthearted than the few predecessors featuring the same actors, but it falls far short of the first Sniper film with Berenger. 2.5/3.0

The long-running franchise keeps repeating the worn-out formula with this collection of action clichés, which is just barely bearable thanks to the presence of original Sniper Thomas Beckett [Tom Berenger]. Thomas and his son Brandon [Chad Michael Collins] are (once again) involved in the fight against an army of mercenaries. That is the only way to prevent a corrupt regime from denying a war… and to convince the US that Thomas and Brandon are not terrorists. Routine to the bone. Ends with the announcement of a sequel, but it looks like that will be a while in coming.
