"Playtime just got real."

After being fired, Brian reluctantly becomes a stay-at-home dad, caring for his ten-year-old son. On his very first day, Brian accepts a random playdate invitation from Jeff, also a stay-at-home dad. Jeff seems a bit odd, and when the playdate begins, Jeff turns out to be someone Brian never expected, and they immediately find themselves fleeing a very dangerous situation. The two fathers and their sons try to get through the day without being killed and, together, try to solve a conspiracy.

It has its comical moments, but overall it's just disappointing. The story really falters in the last half hour, especially.

A decent film about a stepfather struggling to deal with his stepson. A predictable progression for this unoriginal action-comedy (despite the fun plot twist). But there are plenty of entertaining scenes, and Alan Ritchson makes a delightfully ridiculous portrayal of himself. A mere 3.0 stars.

James plays a loser trying to be a father figure to his dorky stepson [Benjamin Padak]. Trouble arises during a playdate with newcomer CJ [Banks Pierce], who turns out to be the target of a terrorist organization, and his father [Alan Ritchson] must protect him. A wacky action comedy full of lame jokes, with Ritchson as the (rightly) forgotten stepbrother of the Hemsworth brothers.
