On her eighteenth birthday, Su Mei receives a message that displeases her. Her father tells her that years ago he agreed with the Yuen family that his daughter would marry their son. The idea of having to marry a man she doesn't know makes her decide to look for him. She cuts her hair and dresses like a boy. In this way she will be able to discover how honest Chai Yuen Hai is. But no matter how she searches, he cannot be found. About a month later, her father manages to track her down. Together they make the deal that she can search for another three months. The only condition is that her kung fu brother Ah Fung goes with her. Because she has no choice, she agrees. Finally, she bumps into Chen Kang. A man who has been wandering around for years looking for a suitable kung fu master. Somehow he has no luck in his quest and continues to end up with people who have no real skill. They get along and Su Mei teaches Chen Kang swallow boxing, her family's style. This goes well for a while until Pai suddenly appears on the scene. Several times there is a confrontation between him and Chen Kang. But since Chen Kang poses no threat, he lets him live. Not much later, Pai kills Su Mei's father. There is no other option than to fight Su Mei together.
