Ninja: Shadow of a Tear plot

"An ancient hero returns with a vengeance."

Fight with everyone and trust no one. It is the honor code of survival practiced by martial arts master Casey Bowman after his life is destroyed by an act of violence. Seeking revenge, the American tracks down the killer with the help of a wise sensei. His only clue: a string of victims whose necks show signs of barbed wire strangulation. His ultimate goal is the sinister drug lord Goro, who rules the streets. To prepare for the ultimate showdown, he must transform into an invisible warrior who lives up to the name Ninja.

I think with these types of films you know in advance that it's not about the plot or credibility. Personally, I'm more concerned with the action and that's quite good in this film. A number of action scenes are wonderfully brutal and the few slow-motion moments are always enjoyable in these types of films.

Just great entertainment for a while. Nothing high-end, but it doesn't have to be.

3*

6/10 (IMDB)

Cool fight scenes.

Point.

Because then we have already had all the strong points of the film. The story, the dialogues and the acting are hardly inferior in terms of clumsiness to the ninja films from the 80s. Even the camera work was really out of date in many shots.

After a while I started to wonder if the mediocrity had not been deliberately exaggerated to enhance the B-movie feeling. But I really fear that it is ignorance.

Now the question is of course: Is that bad? It's a ninja movie. And they revolve around one thing in particular. Fight scenes. And they are really very good. But does that also have to mean that everything else has to be of a lousy standard?

I personally don't think a film like this is worth watching. Even though it is a fight film, a little more quality in other areas shouldn't be such a problem. But if you just want to see an old-fashioned ninja movie, then feel free to watch this one. And enjoy the blasting mat parts, including old-fashioned exaggerated fighting sounds.

Rewatched today, this time on a beautiful Blu-ray!

I thought it was a very good action film full of great fights, and I also thought it was slightly better than the 1st part.

Another good revenge movie with Scott Adkins! Doesn't really resemble previous Ninja films, except almost at the end you see Scott Adkins as Ninja in a big fight (with Goro), then you think it's over, but then it continues with another final battle!

Also beautiful scenes in the jungle and partly shot in America, at the end a twist that I did not expect and followed by an exciting and good final battle.

All in all a very entertaining film and slightly better than the 1st part because of the beautiful locations and more action.
