"He's the ultimate tool."
Since his wife's death ten years ago, MacGruber (Will Forte) has lived a secluded life. But when he learns that his country needs him because his sworn enemy Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer) has stolen a nuclear bomb, MacGruber realizes he's the only one who can handle the job. He puts together a team and together they try to straighten things out.

Mediocre film in which MacGruber takes on his nemesis Cunth. Clearly a parody of the action genre. Completely over the top where the humor is so bland and wrong that you have to laugh about it here and there. But after a while you've seen it and of course the wafer-thin plot doesn't captivate either.

Film that really wants to be funny in hilarious, but it just isn't, despite a number of successful moments. The rating is exaggeratedly low, although I will admit that I also had to realize that this was a parody film.
Forte really wants to be funny. He just isn't real though. Jim Carrey behavior enough, and also a lot of yelling and sex jokes, but really doesn't know how to be funny. Here and there there are some dry moments that give it some charm and that's why I had to laugh again.
In terms of action, there is a bit more to experience, although there is little spectacular in it. A few parody explosions here and there, but they don't add much in terms of action. In addition, a number of action scenes with a lot of bullets and crazy splashed with blood.
In terms of acting, there are good performances in it. Wiig isn't very funny, but Forte isn't really either. Kilmer is a bit more fun as a villain. Phillippe is also quite nice as a helper, but that's mainly because he also has some charm in his character.
Some nice moments, but in general this remains a bit too bland to be really fun. The film also just tries a little too hard, while it does make fun of a lot of action clichés. The film just wants it a little too much.

This movie has an extraordinary amount of 0.5* votes. Unjustified. Yes, there are better movies than Macgruber, but this movie does what it's supposed to do, which is make you laugh. The movie is bland, but in a fun way. Personally, I really like Forte, but not for everyone. If you don't like silly jokes, don't watch this movie. Nice movie to watch with a joint.
