Solid.

The role of Pearce is almost the salvation of this film, although there is still enough action to be found. It is only the budget that is a clear stumbling block. The grand story does not come into its own very well. This really requires higher amounts.

Pearce is nevertheless quite nice. There is really an abundance of one-liners that eventually really start to stand out, but a lot of them hit the mark. I have regularly been able to laugh at his antics even though there is too much in the end.

Visually often quite ugly. Moderate effects that are sometimes very weak. But the duo behind the helm is happy to work with it so that it does not start to disturb very much. Story is weak, the environment is a bit different but in the end you can predict it from the first part.

Not exciting at all. Pearce is really too jolly for that and humor takes over too much. That makes the movie smoother. Because if this was more serious, it really wouldn't have been very good. I was terrified when I saw Grace show up with a smile much too confident. Fortunately, Pearce takes up so much space that you can't be bothered by Grace so much. Pearce at least gives her enough of it.

Ultimately, the film offers little more than a standard hostage story, but in space. However, the film is entertaining until the last minutes and has decent acting. But it's not all that exciting and the effects are sometimes really horrible. But still, because I had a good laugh, one more enough.

Pleasant SF action movie about how a 'soldier' has to rescue the president's daughter from a runaway prison consisting of a space station. Beautiful images, nice setting and occasionally nice dialogues and one-liners by Guy Pierce. The story is not that deep, but that is not necessary in this genre of films. Was able to digest it well. Action never really over the top and film so passed. Didn't bore me. Hence 3.5 *

Film that I thought I remembered as barely adequate, but reasonable and entertaining. Something that is a bit disappointing now, many years later.

Snow's introduction to the plot and betrayal is too artificial for words, can be called downright chaotic and the chase practically hurts the eyes. It's all no more than a vehicle to get Snow on location and make a circle afterwards. something that hadn't been necessary at all. Snow as an Uber sarcastic dropped to help the damsel in need would have been more than good as a plot for this already fairly meaningless case.

It is in fact the phase in which Snow finds Emilie and drags along what matters and concerns the better phase of the film. The sarcastic discussions and chemistry between the two is delightfully comical at times. The action is also good at times and especially Joe Gilgun does a fine job as a sadistic and uninhibited criminal. Phases that, in my opinion, should have been the focus, and ultimately far too short, even though the film is only 95 minutes.

Thanks to the glittering Pearce, Lockout has become quite a reasonable product that occasionally entertains. Unfortunately, much more could have been made of this.
