A disaster film from the seventies is pure nostalgia for me. If made well.....I love it.

I never saw this before so I bought the DVD, but it wasn't that bad, in 2017 there is little left of it. Action is anything but spectacular, it doesn't get exciting because you actually know how this will end. Not made according to the golden rules of the genre either, the characters hardly receive any attention or depth, Juggernaut focuses more on the action which, as mentioned, is very predictable. Harris plays a strong leading role, world-famous actors such as Sharif and Hopkins have few independent roles and are cardboard characters. The presence of that silly little guy from the James Bond films doesn't help either. With pain and effort, a small pass for this relatively simple story. A pass not based on contemporary standards, but mainly on my longing for times gone by.

Definitely an exciting film in the second half. The bomb dismantling is excellently presented and I was on the edge of my seat. Unfortunately, there are also some bad scenes: Juggernautis supposed to take place in stormy weather, but all attempts to depict a storm situation fail and that causes unwanted clumsiness. With Anthony Hopkins in a striking supporting role as the Scotland Yard inspector who tries to catch the bomber Juggernaut on land. BTW: how "Juggernaut" ends up being lampooned is also quite unbelievable. Not much is done with the fact that the inspector's wife and two children are on the boat. In one scene the son ends up in the danger zone and that in itself was an exciting moment, but the inspiration did not extend beyond that. A bit amateurish here and there, luckily the tension in the second half made up for a lot. The red and the blue thread has now become a cliché.

Exciting, well-made thriller about a terrorist who targets The Britannic, a huge British boat during a routine trip to the US. The script is not equally solid everywhere and certainly leaves quite a few gaps with regard to the revelation of the villain, but the impressive cast manages to keep the attention well and there are a number of nail-biter moments. Richard Harris seems to be having a great time as a laconic bomb expert.
