Hwasango plot
"Who is the Best WaSanGo Martial Arts Expert?"
One day, student Kim Kyung-Soo is transferred to Volcano High. Despite the fact that the school has been around for 108 years, Volcano High is completely unknown to the common people. Only the greatest masters of martial arts know about it. Kim has already been kicked out of eight schools for not being able to control his supernatural powers. This time he is determined to finish his studies.

And fun again. Because if Volcano high is 1 thing, then that's it 
. Very comic high-school 'gang' work with the necessary visual flair and over-the-top stuff.
Especially visually very striking, great use of color (or rather, absence of color) and enough fun tricks to keep it exciting. The special effects look remarkably spectacular, the use of water in most scenes is particularly atmospheric.
Unfortunately there is still something to be said about it, the playing time is simply too long and the humor is sometimes a bit too bland (those farts..). All in all an above-average high-school work that especially impresses with its look.

Stays fun.
A bit surprising actually, because I didn't really expect it that way. This seemed like a typical movie that was cool because I wasn't that familiar with Asian movies at the time, but Volcano High still knows how to distinguish itself. Perhaps because it's a South Korean film that deals with something quintessentially Japanese, that combo remains fairly unique.
It is mainly a film that focuses on entertainment. Story is of secondary importance, not much time is spent on drama either, it is mainly a lot of style and action, neatly stitched together into a film that is close to two hours. Normally a little too long, but it couldn't irritate me here.
The CG isn't great anymore, but it's more about flair, and the film contains a lot of that. From the outrageous camera work to the stylization of the characters, everything just looks really cool. Just be careful not to get the horrible MTV dub, it's really distasteful.
