Ray Breslin is the world's foremost person when it comes to safety. He has carefully analyzed each prison and is also trained in a vast amount of survival techniques, so that he can work on the best-security prisons ever, from which escape is impossible. But then he ends up in the prison he once designed himself. Ray does everything he can to escape, and goes in search of the person who put him behind bars.

“Have a lovely day... asshole!”
Schwarzenegger and Stallone who have to escape together from a prison that is almost impossible to escape... Sometimes you don't need to know more to watch a movie. I was quickly sold by the actors and the fun premise, and fortunately the film itself is also very worthwhile. Good action scenes, enough tension and fantastic one-liners. Escape Plan should not be watched for a realistic story or great acting, but as a prison film with Arnie and Stallone in top form, this is a small movie party.

You hit like a vegetarian! 
Hearing Schwarzenegger speak German was something special, although it's just his native language of course. Old school prison escape. The story is as unbelievable as can be, yet you swallow it all for sweet cake. The bad guy, the prison director, didn't seem very impressive to me, with that tinkering with his butterfly.. Occasionally quite funny bits, very bland, but funny enough to make a full movie theater laugh:[i ] Say Cheese![/i]
Schwarzenegger often does his prison mate Stallone a favor, without getting anything in return, other than promising to help him escape. But that gets clarified at the end, thankfully, with one more little surprise in store.
Pure entertainment, that's all. With your mind in lockdown, so to speak.

Fairly entertaining, but far from great. The plot is of course rather far-fetched, which should not be a problem if the film continues to go over the top. And that doesn't really happen. The action at the end is decent, but nowhere really astonishing. Also few really memorable one-liners, except Schwarzenegger's comment about hitting like a vegetarian. Also nice to hear him speak German once; in general he also seems to be a bit more on track than Stallone. Also nice to see Vinnie Jones in this film, he really has an epic face. But I also have the feeling that there was more to him, which is not his fault: they could have done a lot more with him in the final scene with him, which was not exactly epic.
A film that is a nice pastime, but no more. 2*.
