In the finale of the Detective Knight crime trilogy, James Knight [Bruce Willis] tries in vain to reconnect with his ex-wife [Dina Meyer] and daughter [Willow Shields]. Jack Kilmer (son of Val) plays an Emergency Medical Technician whose frustration at the lack of appreciation for his work grows as a new gang of thugs (you guessed it) commit another series of robberies. The finale takes place on Independence Day this time, but due to Kilmer's weak play and Willis' indifferent play, it's just a faded copy of Detective Knight: Redemption with the same social preaching. Enough.

And with this, we conclude the trilogy today. We now follow 2 paramedics (the woman turns out to be Knight's daughter) who did not follow protocol and are therefore called to account. After which one of them [Jack Kilmer] goes completely off the rails and, Dexter-style, starts playing an Angel of Justice. He first pays a visit to the man who filed the complaint regarding brutal treatment (but only vaguely recognizes him), who rubs salt in the wound by stating that the officers and doctors saved him, but those paramedics...
The entire Detective Knight trilogy is largely about acting by the book or taking the law into your own hands. In itself, a commendable approach for a police/crime film series. And this one adds a nice conclusion to the triptych. Who cares that they trot out good old Bruce as the protagonist while others carry the real lead roles? As long as it still provides compelling material presented in a solid manner...?
None of this is certainly top quality, but it still managed to charm me. I found the middle one of the three, in particular, to be quite decent.
