Most people have experienced it at some point: the strange feeling when you are somewhere, see someone or experience a situation and think you have experienced or seen it before. But what if these feelings are really warnings from the past or puzzle pieces for the future? Inspector Doug Carlin is called in to collect evidence when a bomb explodes on a boat in New Orleans. During his research, he discovers that the feeling of déjà vu, which is generally thought to exist only in your head, can actually be a powerful tool.

Far-fetched and boring. I was hoping for a butterfly effect-like film, but unfortunately it was not to be. All in all, I thought it was a long, salt-free episode of CSI in which the protagonists are first watching a documentary via a time machine. For the rest it was mostly chaotic and just lacked a bit of action. Denzel mostly plays himself a bit. You can't do much better when your character is actually nothing. Maybe I was too tired tonight, but the script is too chaotic and random for me. The plot is as leaky as a basket, because references to earlier parts of the film have been stuck in there quite aimlessly. Strange by the way that Claire doesn't show an ounce of trauma symptoms. As if that wasn't enough, she also plays the hero. Very mediocre display.

Good movie with some time travel aspects. That makes it a bit different from the typical action/detective movie. Denzel Washington tries to prevent an attack in this film and does something pretty crazy. I get that he thinks Paula Patton is worth saving, but what he's doing goes extremely far for a job and someone strange. Although of course he gets to know them better by spying on her? Jim Caviezel is seen in a bit of an unusual role here. I'm not used to seeing him as a villain. In itself, little time is spent on him, which makes the antagonist appear rather weak here. Unfortunately, the soundtrack is also a bit too much of the same. That same tune keeps coming back. All in all, a good story that I think is easy to follow. Not too much hocus pocus, just a little bit. Of course I'm a fan of fantasy so I'm not easily impressed by some hocus pocus anymore, not everyone will be equally good at it.

Apparently I hadn't voted for this yet, it was about 8 years ago that I had seen this. Now given another look, the reason was the new Flemish series Deja Vu on Streamz. Wanted more of this, yes you will soon come to this film. Really completely my thing this, literally letting it suck into the film from start to finish, didn't let go. Denzel, also called topper, in 'The Equalizer' series I also think he is at his best. Thick 9/10.
