"No air. No escape. No time."
When an explosion closes the tunnel under New York's Hudson River on both sides, a small group of survivors are trapped. Former Medical Emergencies Chief, Kit Latura (Sylvester Stallone), is the only one with the necessary know-how to free the victims. Risking his own life, he manages to join the group of survivors and does everything he can to get everyone safely above the ground.

I had already seen Daylight a number of times, but really years ago between 96 and 00.
Although the beginning is a bit confused with sometimes superfluous scenes, that is quickly exchanged for a high Stallone quality.
Explosions, lots of action, muscles and muscles language, something emotion and certainly tension!
Excellent playing time of almost 2 hours, in which the story does not have to be rushed and where there is always something happening in terms of action or tension.
Nice that Stallone's son still had a small role and to see a then still unknown to me Viggo Mortenson.
At the time, this was a real and top movie.
Of course the special effects are different than we are used to now, certain scenes are a bit improbable, the fellow players are sometimes very exaggerated in their reactions and very quick in putting aside their emotions after experiencing the most horrible things.
Now actors can't get away with that anymore I think (kuch.duanejohnson.kuch), but this is how these kind of movies were in the 90s..!
I rate this film with 1996 in mind and of course some nostalgia.

A disaster film with some familiar faces and the necessary special effects. A genre that has seen quite a few good times in Hollywood and somehow gets that little bit more attention. Perhaps to emphasize how heroic America is to be the savior?
Daylight is quite pleasant to see. Sometimes something about it, but that's part of the genre. And you should not expect great acting performances, but there is enough momentum in the story. The effects hold up quite well. Not a bad movie, but nothing more.

A typical disaster film with a hero who seems to be the only one who seems to have a monopoly on knowledge, but is not deemed credible due to a previous incident. It happens to Kit Latura who, out of sheer altruism, tries to save some unfortunate lives after an explosion collapses a tunnel under the Hudson.
All quite entertaining and despite the fact that you know that everything will be okay, it can still be called quite exciting, partly because of the speed that the film knows. Obviously quite a lot of focus on Stallone's heroism. Perhaps the biggest problem is the involvement with the (other) characters.
Nice to see a young Viggo Mortensen at work. At the time still an unknown actor for me, but the acting in general, as mentioned here several times, can only be called mediocre.
