Buying Time plot
"In a future plagued by deadly diseases, a desperate father must confront the moral implications of an advanced chip technology that grants extra years of life at the cost of someone else's."
It's the year 2028, and antibiotics are no longer effective. A company called Lifeline has invented a health chip that everyone can get for free through the NHS. You can buy an upgrade that's effective against more infections and diseases. In 2028, however, computing and processing power is limited, but to get an upgrade, someone has to die so the power can be transferred. People die randomly. Lifeline is launching its second upgrade, which is expected to generate billions for the company, along with its ministerial backer. Daniel Avery lost his wife and daughter under such circumstances, and recent nightmares and flashbacks have prompted him to launch an investigation.
