Mediocre film in which Batman and Robin compete against as many as four different villains. This movie doesn't take itself seriously at all and it's entertaining nonsense. Stupid humor (like the nameplates on the gadgets). This is certainly something to laugh about. However, the plot hardly manages to captivate and the film simply goes on for far too long (it is constantly repeating). Just not 3.0 stars.

At the end of the highly successful first season of the television series of the same name, the makers wanted to launch the series abroad using this six-week film version that pits The Caped Crusader [Adam West] and Boy Wonder [Burt Ward] against the four most popular villains. The Joker [Cesar Romero], The Penguin [Burgess Meredith], The Riddler [Frank Gershon] and Catwoman [Lee Merriwether]. They are joining forces to demand The World Security Council and millions of dollars in ransom from the governments of these world leaders. Knowing that Batman will try to thwart their plans, Catwoman disguises herself as a Russian journalist in order to seduce and kidnap someone who will want to save Batman at any cost. The intended victim? Bruce Wayne! Enjoy the crazy puns and the ridiculous riddles. Shudder when Robin tries to rescue Batman from a hungry shark using Shark Repellent Bat Spray! Shed a tear for the noble sacrifice of a dolphin! And be thankful for the presence of the Foam Rubber Whosesalers Convetion in Gotham City! Enjoy the colorful props and hilarious details in the sets and the legendary wall climb! And don't forget: “Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!” Sublime entertainment for the whole family.

Just fun childhood sentiment for me. In contrast to then, I now see what it was: just nice "campy" nonsense, where now all means of transport, weapons and colorful enemies in one pot and go ahead with the goat. Unfortunately it goes on for half an hour too long, which I think is the only downside.

The "look and feel" is directly derived from the comics of that time and of course has nothing to do with the recent productions. Appreciating this seems to me to be primarily a matter of looking back with a smile...

Batman: What has yellow skin and writes?

Robin: A ball-point banana!
