Bad Cop plot

"Sometimes you gotta be bad to be good"

Angel Amaraz is a Mexican-American police officer who does everything by the book, but lacks the political sense to get a promotion. His wife would prefer that he look for another job. When Angel saves the life of the wealthy aristocrat Fernando one evening, the tide seems to turn and he is offered a job as head of his security. However, his new and wealthy life brings changes and his own family seems to be falling apart, until the wise detective Humes takes him under his wing. Meanwhile, Fernando gets Angel in big trouble with Colombian mobsters who want to kill them both.
