When a movie is set in the eighties, I always pay close attention to whether everything is right or not. The 50 guilder bill. In my memory it only came later, so I looked it up and the note was introduced a year earlier in 1982. It already existed then. I don't think the expression "thinking outside the box" was used then. The red-black logo of KAV-autoverhuur is, I think, something of the last time (so surreptitious advertising), a childbirth course where fathers also went and cycling with a crate in front... The film never gets exciting, while the book by Peter R. de Vries (when he was only involved with crime and old murder cases) is a very exciting page turner.

Anthony Hopkins can at least add another big name to his resume, next to Hitler, Nixon and Picasso.

In this film the viewer is immediately sucked into the story and there is almost no character formation of any kind. The story then immediately becomes boring and not interesting to propose anything at all. The fact that the actors spoke English was also a real damper on the whole. That Hollywood has wanted to invest time and energy in this way with these actors is a complete mystery. Can hardly think of anything positive about the film, soon forgotten.
