Kean plot
Edmund Kean is the country's most celebrated Shakespearean interpreter in 1820, but in the upper class he is notorious for his liberal lifestyle. Kean is in love with Countess Elena de Koefeld, the wife of the ambassador of Denmark. She loves him too but is unsure if she will sacrifice everything for him. And then there's Anna, a wealthy heiress, who refuses to marry the man her parents chose. She is also in love with Kean and, like him, wants a career as an actress. The reaction of the aristocrats is scathing. Kean's performances are boycotted and his career is over.
