Stella Dallas plot
After his father's suicide, who embezzled money, luxury-raised Stephen Dallas leaves his beloved Helen and hides somewhere in a factory town. Lonely and alone, he succumbs to Stella's temptations. For a while they lead a happy married life and a girl, Laurel, is born. But Stella never reaches Stephen's high social level. She dresses too flashy, and her ideas and taste are uncivilized. Eventually Stephen leaves her and leaves the child with her.
