At the age of forty, Jean Renault, an actor, finds himself in a valley... He is no longer successful. His counselor offers him a rather unusual job: taking the place of a dead man to help reconstruct the scenes of the crime. His obsession with the detail stuns the investigators and Jean will return to the forefront of the stage in a delicate case in Megève, after a string of murders.
