The lives of an old beggar (Paul Rehkopf) and an unemployed young man (Fritz Genschow) change dramatically when the beggar finds a valuable, lost piece of jewelry and is seen by a prostitute (Lissy Arna). The string of pearls can mean their escape from poverty for all three but quickly becomes the cause of a deadly conflict.
