Film adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's play of the same name. Anna Christie has spent her childhood with other relatives from the age of five, but at the age of 20 she returns to her father. Together, they save the lives of three shipwrecked men on a boat trip, of whom Matt Burke soon falls in love and wants to marry her. However, Anna Christie's father does not want her to marry a sailor.
