La Grande Bellezza
Stylish film in which Rome is shown at its most beautiful and seductive. If you really create the right viewing conditions, La Grande Bellezza feels like a dream, and before I knew it, an hour had passed. Downsides are that not all conversations and storylines are equally interesting, and the editing sometimes feels a bit sloppy. Just as you are enjoying a scene, it is cut off, to go to the next beautiful scene. Because audiovisually, La Grande Bellezza is a masterpiece, and Sorrentino deserves all the credit in that regard.

Strangely enough, I found him very disappointing. Really expected so much more.
Beautiful cinematography, yes, but I thought the story and the rest were a bit weak. It just didn't appeal to me and found it all just vague and chaotic.

Hedonist Vivant Jep Gambardella [Toni Servillo], who mainly relies on one prize-winning novel, is celebrating his 65th birthday in Rome in the grandest way. A one night stand with Orietta [Isabella Ferrari] is the first in a series of encounters and events that make him question whether he is happy with his current life and should help him see the 'great beauty' of the title again. Servillo is perfect in the lead role, and with the help of a pounding soundtrack and cinematography by Luca Bigazzi, he provides this Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film with the right ambiance for this odyssey through the Italian capital with a few magical-realistic moments that bring pleasant memories. calls to the work of Federico Fellini.
