The F Word plot

"...being friends has its benefits?"

Wallace and Chantry meet at a party where small pieces of poetry are read. There is immediately a good chemistry between the two. At least as friends. As time goes on, the two draw closer to each other, and everything is discussed. But there's a problem... Chantry is dating. Wallace seems to be falling for the beautiful Chantry more and more, and she too has a hard time suppressing her feelings for him. Will their love for each other be destroyed by the romantic influences from outside, or can they just enjoy the benefits of a simple platonic relationship?

Not for me.

Film that copies a bit of elements of mostly better films (made me think of Before Sunrise, 500 Days of Summer, Her and Perks of Being a Wallflower) and although I don't think that's a bad thing, it mainly lacks individuality in both those adding examples as the predictable formula.

The friend-zone part should be a new approach, but that only annoyed me. Usually there is an external obstacle that prevents the main characters from getting together; I had a hard time sympathizing with characters who refuse to see for themselves or don't dare admit it. Especially Chantry, who is increasingly turning into a complaining princess.

Too bad about the uninspired, fairly random animations in between, the annoying soundtrack and the supporting roles of Driver and Chantry's sister, so obviously used as pawns.

Still, there is usually a nice dreamy atmosphere, there are some nice dialogues (especially in the beginning) and there is good chemistry and timing between Radcliffe and Kazan. Over time, however, I found the film more and more tedious and the characters annoyingly passive. The predictable ending was therefore not the warm bath you were hoping for, but only the release from that annoyance. 2*

Romcom, the word alone makes me itchy. But this one was really fun. Itching, nice, haha what a doggerel! The story is actually very simple, but the nice thing about it is that you know that the two protagonists are meant for each other, only they don't dare to express their feelings for each other. And that goes on throughout the film. How does this end? Well, I want to tell you that... Oh, go see it for yourself. Not itchy, but surprisingly fun.

Radcliffe is a nice guy. With Graham Norton it was/is always a lot of fun with him there. Very down to earth too. And you can see that in his films. In his role of Harry Potter there was the danger of the Swiebertje effect, but as far as I'm concerned he has long shed his wizard's cloak. His opponent is also very charming.

And starry skies in movies, they always look enchantingly beautiful, in contrast to reality. In real life, starry skies are not so densely packed, most stars give off such a dim light that I have to squint to see them better.

No, this wasn't much. Watched the film because of Zoe Kazan and Adam Driver, and although the acting was fine, that's about all. Terribly predictable movie. I also found the dialogues (I read here that various people did appreciate them) that they were forcedly funny and not funny. Not my kind of humor. And I think poop jokes are a sign of poverty.
