This enigmatic trip along a desolate highway, this ode to the femme fatale, this fabulous adaptation of Robert Aldrich's 'noir der noirs' indeed deserves (almost) a full 5, but that would do the other Lynch short.

Went for the review tonight and despite the elusiveness surrounding the film, even after research and explanation found, still more impressed and convinced of a special film.

Once again, the fantastic atmosphere is striking, a mystery at its best that can be told in different parts from multiple characters, it seems, with a quite sinister atmosphere, disturbing images and sometimes very loud music in the form of Rammstein and Manson. Without even starting about the plot, the atmosphere and tone are central. Something the film scores highly with. Best parts are those around Fred, the phase with Pete is less so.

Nevertheless, some guidance or a proverbial tip of the veil is welcome or even desired. Because what was all this now? I found a particularly fascinating explanation at this Lost Highway explained: the meaning of David Lynch's masterpiece – Auralcrave. And something I can do something with myself. Obviously nothing is what it seems and the in-depth Freudian explanation is welcome and I find very interesting and would explain several things such as the Mystery Man's initiation of murder on Mr. Eddie. Furthermore, apart from the beginning with Fred until deadrow, what is shown is out of the blue and delusional.

Anyway, Lost Highway, a film that you could speculate about all night and then the film is by definition already successful. Great movie if this is your genre.

Weird movie, but I like this one. Nice and slow and mysterious.
