"When our flag falls our nation will rise."
The film follows a disgraced discharged agent of the American Secret Service (Gerard Butler). When North Korean terrorists, armed with extraordinary technological weapons, occupy the White House and take the president (Aaron Eckhart) and several of his associates hostage, he is the only man left who can save the president and the country.

Olympus Has Fallen is an old-fashioned action film in the style of Die Hard. It's not all original and credible, but that will be a problem for many action fans. The script is entertaining and the actors are clearly having fun with it.
In 2013, two films were released around the hostage situation of the American president: Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down by German director Roland Emmerich. Both the battle for the public and the critics was won by Olympus Has Fallen, which was a success in the cinemas.
The obvious patriotism is forgiven the film. Scottish actor Gerard Butler plays a nice role as an American agent and the film has nice supporting roles from Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Rick Yune.
