The West and the Islamic countries are at odds with each other, but the reckless, tough Jake Travers is nevertheless out for revenge on Islamic terrorists. However, he encounters a world that is too complicated to be solved by force alone. Lost within the religious and cultural palaces, mosques, temples, subterranean labyrinths and red light districts of Southeast Asia's criminal underworld, he must team up with a suspicious Islamic detective. Beautiful views of Islamic cultures, transport, and alleyways.
The necessary beauties, battles, corrupt police and politicians, and the extensive traditions are given color.
Except for the far too long-winded ending.
Cinematography and acting are fine. Sometimes a bit exaggerated. But you get that in most Asian films.
Not a top movie, but still worth seeing and enjoying. Not much to say about it.
Shut up and let your head do the work.
A 3.5 convinced me.

An entertaining action film with just a touch of the exotic – and thankfully something different from Indonesia than that eternal silent force and the tempo doeloe of the colonials. And precisely because of that, fresh and different – at least for us Dutch. We could certainly use a bit more of that.
And yes, it is somewhat of a B-movie, a cult film perhaps – for fans of Lutz. If there are any. Rourke seems to be in it only to get an extra famous name on the poster; his input is very limited – a sleazy criminal, sure enough.

What beautiful landscapes in this we-must-run, jump, fly, dive, fall, get up, and keep going scene. Lots of action with political games, tiger whores, and a sultana who is the heir to the throne, yet a certain Malik, Rourke, has other plans. All the clichés make an appearance, but only this setting makes the whole thing vivid. 2.4*
