Very fun and interesting movie! The story is interesting, the atmosphere is oppressive (I understand that most people expected a horror film and are disappointed because it is not a horror film, but there is always a subcutaneous tension and uncomfortable feeling) and the main role is not only for the soundman in the film but also for the sound itself of the film. I love this kind of modernistic sounds, so I thought the movie was a party for the sound alone!

Just not.

I expected a weirder version of Blow out from Brian de Palma, but got a slow Strickland. The film wants to be strange and mysterious, but it all remains far too ordinary for that. The first hour in particular is just dead boring and apart from some separate characters, almost nothing happens. But, Strickland has saved his powder for the last 20 minutes. Suddenly things go wild and you get one absurd situation after another. There are also a number of beautiful shots and scenes to admire, such as the photo shoot(?) of the new ladies, the landscape of England, and the dubs. Unfortunately a bit late..

2.5*

We follow Gilderoy, a somewhat scrawny shy introverted Brit, but with great talent as a sound engineer. He auditions and is accepted for the shooting of a film by producer Francesco and director Santini. It is mainly Tobey Jones who was an absolute added value to the film for me and kept the film fascinating and entertaining for me.

A film that mainly relies on atmosphere and context. In terms of content, not much happens. Strange, muddled and mysterious, yes, but also vague and long-winded in terms of content. A film that plays with sound effects and editing with an oppressive atmosphere, but did not always manage to hold my thoughts 100% throughout the entire running time.
