L'Emmerdeur plot
A hit man (Ventura) moves into Montpellier to take out an important witness. His assignment is thwarted by the fact that in the hotel room next to his is a man (Brel) who has become severely neurotic after his wife left him.

A good film in which a hitman, while on a job at a hotel, is harassed by his suicidal neighbor. It's all presented rather seriously, and that's precisely where the humor lies. Not hilarious, but certainly funny. The two leads, Lino Ventura and Jacques Brel, also have a good dynamic together.

A very enjoyable French comedy with a masterful Ventura. Just that facial expression alone: Fantastic. Since Brel also does a surprisingly good job (I'd never seen him act before), these two form the basis for a pleasant hour and a half. The screenplay, by the way, is by Francois Veber, who later made quite a few excellent films (all comedies).
