It takes a while for the film to come off, but in the end I also really liked this Sono. In fact, it may even be my favorite, as Sono often fascinates me but rarely really convinces me. In this film too, Sono wanders through different genres, and this time (despite the fact that it is certainly not a standard film) without excessive exuberance. Although there is also plenty of extremity involved, from the jovial Murata who also turns out to have a very dark side, as a serial killing mafioso, rapist and convincing alpha male. But also his wife, and later the well-off bourgeois Shamoto who later goes off the rails and tries to get his family back into line with a heavy hand. A lot of blood, murder, violence, sex, also in all kinds of combinations, but especially in the first half quite a bit of black comedy. As is often the case with Sono, it could have been a little shorter, but this was still an excellently acted and filmed insight into the life of first a derailed murderer and all the violent scenes that come with it, and then we do it again thinly about Shamoto going through the postal service. Sono has increased his credit with me a bit again.

Sublime Japanese film, which really captured me so much that I went through the film in amazement and admiration. The cast was also of a high standard. Big 9/10.

Good Japanese film about an allegedly true story, but I don't believe much of it. Police officers really can't be that stupid. It was a busy, noisy film, but still quite enjoyable. Sometimes you can laugh...
