Very nice again, and that for a TV movie. The atmosphere is again top-notch and the characters, as in almost every part, are believable, which makes Amityville 4 a very entertaining part, which is never grandiose, but just enjoyable to watch.

3*

What a surprise this was! My expectations were low for this film, but this suddenly turned out to be a very entertaining cheese.

This time we are in a different house where there is a lamp from the original house in which an evil spirit resides. This sows the necessary terror by, among other things, throwing at some domestic equipment, such as a chainsaw that takes on a life of its own.

Because these kinds of entertaining scenes are sprinkled throughout the film in a nice amount and the lamp itself has a Poltergeist-like influence on the youngest daughter, the film remains entertaining from start to finish.

The score of the film is a bit basic, but it still creates a nice atmosphere here and there.

In my opinion, this film is the best of the Amityville sequels I have seen to date. Kudos to the makers who managed to find just about the most hideous lamp ever for this film. I think this is a nice, cheesy horror flick that is easy to watch.

You have to be quite forgiving to appreciate this fourth part in the series, because the concepts explained here are very silly. Where some horror series send things to space towards the fourth part, Amityville simply decides to place a haunted lamp in another house and knit a film around it. Very simply conceived and in any case it results in a quite clumsy film with very substandard acting. A few scenes in between where there is a lot of spookiness are still worth watching, but once that little brat became possessed by a luminous object as a viewer I knew what time it was. The horror elements are further developed in an idiotic way and in terms of content everything is on the verge of collapse, for example a family that gets help from a priest, but ultimately just collectively throws the lamp out the window. Couldn't they have done that themselves earlier? Director Sandor Stern conducts a desperate attempt to breathe new life into an increasingly less effective series, but falls considerably below the limit.
