China 1936: An almost bankrupt group of stage actors begins to rehearse in the burnt-out ruins of a once glorious theater. The great actor Song Danping was once murdered in this theater. One of the actors, Wei Qing, begins to see a strange appearance during rehearsal. This apparition could revive his company and bring him the same fate as Song Danping.
