Doroga k Zvezdam plot
This film is the dramatized biography of the teacher Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (Georgi Solovyov), who was obsessed with the dream of flying in space. At school he calculated what speed a rocket needs to overcome the gravitational pull of the earth and how much energy that takes. After years of research, he laid the foundations for the exploration of space and published about it as early as 1903. In tsarist Russia this fell on deaf ears. It wasn't until the late 1920s that researchers around the world adopted his ideas. Rockets were developed and the Soviets sent the first satellite into space in 1957: Sputnik.
