This one was on TV and I gave it a try. The first hour is very friendly and occasionally funny, but the second hour it was more drama. There were some recognizable situations, but of course all a bit magnified.

The cast certainly didn't do a bad job and came across convincingly.

Well, I thought it was worth a look.

More fun than expected. Everyone who did it was fun and played well. A bit cliche, but entertaining.

Okay.

Actually a better movie than I could have imagined. This time a story that appoints two characters in the lead roles and writes some characters around them. Despite the fact that almost everyone is played by a familiar face, the other characters are somewhat neglected, but that does not detract too much from the whole.

What especially works are the acting performances, but you can expect that with such a cast. The chemistry is nicely directed so that you do feel something bloom in the film, although it is difficult to call it cute or captivating. Yet it is communicated in a more humane way, so that you can quickly empathize with the events a little better. It's just that you probably won't feel much for it.

Fairly static directing, but fine decoration and just enough cinematography to make it attractive as a whole. Once the puppets are dancing, the film is by far at its strongest. In terms of structure, it also drops little in terms of narrative, so it doesn't feel really messy, but you had hoped that the other actors were less neglected. Such a Jon Hamm, for example, hardly ever comes into the picture.

As a whole it fascinates and maintains enough, but it is not really surprising either. And that's a shame, because the content of the film is more complex than you might think. You may not be able to feel that right away, because where the film mainly fails is that it doesn't really succeed in communicating an emotion. For example, if the characters are sad, there's very little chance that you are too because of that character. Decent movie, but not brilliant.
