Disappointing film in which two children are convinced that there is a monster in their room. Repetitive, and not just because of the parallel storylines. The denouement in which the two storylines come together is not bad in itself, but in the end it doesn't really make the film any better. Not exciting, not very original and clichéd.

Great movie.

The genre designation clearly creates the wrong expectations, but if you read up a bit beforehand you know that you can't expect full-blooded horror. The film is therefore more of a drama/thriller, in which the focus is not on an original story, but on the elaboration. Fortunately it is correct. Some nice shots, intense colors and strong lighting. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the acting. Owen is always a certainty, but Van Houten and Brühl are also bewildered.

Other than that, just a nice video. Not exceptional, more definitely above average.

3*

Separate.

Unfortunately, Apart clearly doesn't quite make it perfect in its genre. Fresnadillo sometimes shows potential in his film, but unfortunately it doesn't quite live up to it. Nevertheless, the Spanish-inspired horror films always have something special.

The haunted house genre always appeals to me, and this automatically does too. Clearly a film that has gone into more budget than the average horror film. Unfortunately, the effects often do not always convince and the sets are the best.

Acting is strong, nothing negative to say. Even Van Houten couldn't stand it. Owen is quite nice in the lead role, Brühl is clearly also quite nice, but the best actually came surprisingly in the form of the young Purnell. Which was also really fun to follow.

Sets are good, the horror could have been greatly enhanced, but Fresnadillo just doesn't know how to convey the horror well. The culprit is actually just a very dull appearance that is not scary anywhere and only gives a kind of comedic tinge.

The horror should also have been a lot scarier. The house is creepy, and the sets are even creepier. The fact that Fresnadillo still can't put a blood-curdling horror film on the screen is an achievement in itself. It actually had just about everything to be a fun movie that could have been really scary. Unfortunately. The separate final can't help too much with that either.
