The Faculty plot

"Take me to your teacher."

The teachers at Herrington High School suddenly start acting strange. When Casey and Delilah have to hide in a closet in the teachers' lounge, they witness Sister Harper's strangulation by two of them. A few moments later, the sister suddenly turns out to be very much alive, but differently than before. Evidence of an alien infection is eventually given by a chemistry teacher. The plan now is to get hold of the queen before the aliens spread across the land.

Smooth and light-hearted film that I especially like because of sentiment, because at the time this was a wonderful film in the cinema and in fact it still is.

Let Rodriguez slide. Admittedly a stolen plot with the necessary clichés, nevertheless a cast of which many stood at the door of great success, a group of beautiful women, a shadowy atmosphere of which it is not immediately clear who does what or where, nice characters and a fine soundtrack with, of course, Another Brick in the Wall, Creed, Offspring and Oasis. The film is not always convincing in the choices the characters make, but it is played well with unpredictability and the question of who can still be trusted. Personally I think Zeke is a very interesting character if only because of that cool 1970 Pontiac GTO.

The denouement is perhaps a bit easy, but most actors play well and people seem to have fun in the film. The Faculty can still be called a very nice film. Just fun!

A campus is plagued by aliens. The reference to Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, of which this is a modern reworking, is even mentioned explicitly. The paranoid atmosphere is good and seeks part of her tension there. The Faculty has a solid cast. Many famous names. But actors like Josh Hartnett, Clea DuVall (who is a lesbian) and Jordana Brewster bring the average down. Fortunately, there is still a nice role for Femke Janssen as the timid teacher who becomes smoking hot and Elijah Wood as a "zero to hero" student. I also like the special effects. I used to think this was a good movie, but as a late forties I don't like it a bit now.

After many shooting ballets on the sandy locations, Rodriguez returns to a high school.

And he knows how to make a nice title here where you can say in 2022: The 90s atmosphere can once again be smelled.

Introduction. A hot-headed coach who has to deal with a shadow. You already know it's wrong.

Then we turn to school; where we slowly get to know the main characters. Mainly everything revolves around the Sensitive Casey Conner, who soon learns the mean rules of school. Furthermore, a disillusioned young lady, a bright blond girl and then also the daring Zeke.

But something is already wrong in this school, as we can see in the introduction. The teachers are acting weird. Yes, that happens often... but now they act very remarkable. And there seem to be more and more. Also more and more students and the misfits have to find their way there, while they are declared crazy by the parents. It soon becomes clear that a parasite in the chemistry lab has something to do with this.

After some sketchy school scenes, horrifying discoveries and cat and mouse games, the brakes are gradually released and it becomes a nice gore alien horror, and the parasites know how to spread easily... And who in your circle should you trust.

Yes, Rodriguez is also very successful with this film and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Oh well, the madness was coming from the start... You could wait for that. Good acting, fresh atmosphere, dry humor, and a good portion of horror and survival. Also remarkable that I recently saw Disturbing Behavior; from the same year. You see some small similarities. Except that Disturbing Behavior remained a bit kosher.

Good!
