The Muppets were great as a series, but they don't always work so well in the movies. They still try to make something of it here, with parodies of well-known films and series from the '60s (Saint, Pink Panther, etc.), with humor that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I'm thinking of the part with John Cleese that really stands out.

The film isn't bad, but you've seen a lot of things already. The writers' storyline is never truly original in the Muppets films. And the songs are occasionally good, but you miss classics like Rainbow Connection, Bein' Green, or Movin' Right Along. Happiness Hotel is definitely not on that level. Only The First Time It Happens is still good.

One other thing to note: you do see that in some scenes, people are actually wearing Muppet costumes, like riding a motorcycle or jumping off the diving board into the pool. On the other hand, there are times when the Muppets ride bicycles. That's actually quite nicely done. It's a bit relative, though, especially younger viewers won't see much difference.

The Great Muppet Caper is fun to watch, but there are better Muppet movies.

Faint.

To be honest, it didn't help that I probably didn't even recognize most of the cameos, but I still found it a rather bland affair. Boring, even.

And a very well-developed story, which makes it rather dull and slow. We have some nice moments with a few individual Muppets, but as a group they also seem a bit dozed off. Perhaps that's typical of the old style, but I didn't think it worked very well.

90+ minutes for films like this is simply too long. 60-70 minutes is enough, after that, it's just a matter of watching the clock and waiting for the film to end.

Doesn't contain quite the low points as the recent Muppets film, but also lacks some of the high points that that film did have.

1.5*

A funny film in which The Muppets end up in England when journalists Kermit and Fonzy, along with their photographer Gonzo, are chasing jewel thieves. It's a shame there are so many songs; they're not really great, although the bicycle scene is very well done.
