It always draws attention when a film has been banned in a number of countries for years. The Day Of The Woman does indeed have that awkward rape that seems to never end. It reminded me of the work of Jean Rollin because of the age of the film, but luckily Meir Zarchi has a bit more to offer than just sex. The revenge part was not the spectacle I had hoped for.

Still, I think such a Camille Keaton has pushed quite a few boundaries. It's quite brave to make a film like this in those years. Her character is quite interesting, but it wouldn't have been easy to portray. What I didn't expect was that someone would play a retarded boy. In any case, it was a good choice, because it made the story more unpredictable and therefore a lot more interesting. I also thought it was cool that the main character turned out to be a true femme fatale. Although it's hard to imagine that you without any problems let yourself be screwed by that half retard, and then hang him. The second kill was the best. It was hilarious and horrifying at the same time. It's a bit of a weird and nasty film, but I'm glad I managed to get it fairly easily.

The original.

The infamous film from the 70s that caused quite a bit of noise from audiences. It took me a while to see the movie. Not because I couldn't find the movie, especially because I didn't really feel like it. Closing the new trilogy was much deeper in my interests, but recently picked up the original.

This film is not exactly disturbing anymore, but the film or Zarchi can hardly be blamed for that. It is mainly that we as audience are meanwhile quite spoiled when it comes to brutal and hard violence. This film doesn't manage to be very explicit in that regard, but nevertheless the tone is quite mean and it all goes on for an awfully long time.

The film's biggest flaw is clearly the acting. Keaton does come across as sympathetic, but it's not cool or intimidating anywhere. The film seems to want to make some sort of switch when it comes to her, but it doesn't really work. The creeps all have their own personality, but can also do little to be really distinctive.

What helps the film move forward is the fact that the revenge part continues well and the rape still has an impact. As I mentioned earlier, it's mainly the villainous tone of the film that can lift it over the hills, but the supporting or accompanying attributes that should help let the film down at the top. Camera work, editing and so on don't stand a chance. It's the content that counts a little better, and that manages to deliver the points it has now from my side.

That Richard Pace almost makes a comedy with his fishing hat and glasses, and the other bad guys are not immediately acting like stars. Camille Keaton is doing a little better, but she has to make the most of her cold beauty. It doesn't happen often, but the remake is more successful. The kills are nothing to write home about either, in the end apparently the inspiration was on (then just kill 2 men with the motorboat! The kill in the bath is horrifying again ( especially for the male viewers!).
