The story centers on Charlie Wright (Aidan Quinn), a billionaire and financial whiz kid who goes into self-imposed exile in Tijuana after it becomes public that his empire turns out to be the largest pyramid scheme in the US. While searching for his wife he left 25 years ago, he is wanted by a Mexican mobster, a federal agent and a bunch of criminals sent by a former client who wants his money back.
