Definitely not an innovative film.

The film will not drag you anywhere as a viewer into all the misery of what Walsh is going through. The Hollywood rules are once again being read that Westerners or Americans will not be able to make a difference in the Middle East let alone an individual.

The dialogues have flown by countless times and the script is quite boring and does not manage to draw the film anywhere.

No, this is a movie that will end up in the no man's land pit.

Good film about a war photographer who returns from yet another job, but is no longer the same. The first half is all pretty standard, but during the second half the film gets a lot better and the story even has a surprise in store. Especially the dialogues between Colin Farrel and Christopher Lee are interesting. Some gripping moments and the acting is also fine.

The main theme of this film is the PTSD of a British photojournalist after his return from Iraqi Kurdistan, where the Anfal genocide took place in 1988. Though dramatic enough, that stress disorder story in my perception is overshadowed by the poignant images of the field hospital in the first part of the film.

Danis Tanović —a director I'm beginning to appreciate more and more — has turned the shocking book of the same name by the American war correspondent Scott Anderson into a fierce, dejected film that will not leave you unmoved.

Good to see the beautiful Paz Vega at work again, because that was a while ago.
