Hmm, bit of an edge case. I thought it was an intriguing movie, but a bit of a shame about the ending. The cast wasn't bad and the movie looked good too.
I thought the film lacked something, to be that little bit more, maybe just a better finished ending.
All in all, worth a look, but still left me a bit hungry.

Mme.

I think it's quite atmospheric at times, though. However, this whole idea never worked out enough. The story has all the potential to be original somewhere and the director knows what he's doing when it comes to suspense. However, Anderson suddenly chokes on it a number of times.

The biggest problem is that apart from a perfect, creepy soundtrack sometimes and some atmospheric sets, it's not exciting at all. It has all the potential to be terrifying. Dark sets, dark corners, strange creatures and little drama.

However, it is never scary. A number of small scare moments and sometimes more exciting moments. However, it is all just great. Despite the fact that the finale is a bit more intense, it all remains a bit tame in terms of tension.

Characters that suddenly seem to change shape. One minute they're crazy, the next they're normal and compassionate. The switch just keeps happening too suddenly. This sometimes makes it seem like a kind of voodoo is going on between the people.

But I didn't think it was as bad as the average here. The music and sets are quite atmospheric and the story is gripping. Despite the lack of tension, the film manages to make a point in terms of atmosphere at times. The film makes a bit too much noise at times in the soundtrack and should have left it with those small noises. A somewhat quieter film would have been much more intense.

Doesn't last too long and just enough happens to not get completely boring. However, much more had to come out of this than ultimately came. Unfortunately.
