Sally of the Sawdust plot
"D.W. Griffith's circus comedy."
Henry L. Foster is a judge who gets angry when his daughter wants to marry a circus performer. However, she ignores him and marries anyway, whereupon her father breaks up with her for good. When both she and her lover die at a young age, their daughter Sally is left with Eustance McGargle, another circus performer. Years later, Sally falls in love with Peyton Lennox, the son of her grandfather's colleague. However, as his anger still hasn't calmed down, he has her arrested for illegal gambling.
