Difficult to place this Buckaroo Banzai in a box. Has now become a true and sought-after cult classic, starring big stars Jeff Goldblum, Ellen Barkin, John Lithgow. The script was apparently a hodgepodge of ideas that were never completed in a finished story. It can be seen. The story, if there's a story at all, is completely bonkers SF comedy kitsch, reminiscent of the cheapest B-movies imaginable. This mishmash has to rely on the parodic humor, which sometimes works. To give just one example: there are red and black leaktroids. The black ones take on the human form of Jamaican rastas with silver disco outfits. That Buckaroo Banzai, played by Peter Weller, is a brain surgeon, rock star and samurai at the same time. Why would you think that? And much more of that nonsense. Those who like to be treated to a messy cult, where you are forced to completely switch off the mind in order not to get tilted, this is it. Although I doubt there will be many.

Fairly SF movie...
Not really exciting story...
A lame comedy (not my taste)...
Funny SF face, but scary spider...
Decent acting...
Nice well-known actor Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Lewis Smith
and jeff goldblum...
No HD and no widescreen, but even smaller...
Not worth it...

Mediocre film in which a surgeon and his band fight aliens. A film that really goes in all directions. The story is a bunch of inimitable nonsense. In itself it is nicely presented with a not too large budget (which actually benefits the film). Furthermore, a cast with secretly quite a few well-known names.
