Six months after the Lumière brothers' invention of the cinématographe, Gabriel Veyre travels the world to show the invention elsewhere and to make new, ethnographic recordings, intended for the World's Fair in Paris in 1900. In a lightly dramatized and speculative essay, Yoshida to say something about the nature of the new medium on the basis of images made by Veyre and to find an explanation for the fact that Veyre was no longer involved with film art after the exhibition.
