Although Kevin knows 23 personalities that his trusted psychiatrist Dr. Fletcher has shown, he owns one more that is about to evolve and take over all the others. When three teenage girls are kidnapped, it comes to a fight for survival between the various personalities hiding inside Kevin, as well as everyone around him.

Good.
Possibly the best Shyamalan, already the best I've seen from him. After a few dips, he suddenly delivers a nice atmospheric thriller. It is less horror, it also has little real horror or very exciting moments.
McAvoy plays very strong, and once again proves to belong to the top. No actor/actress surpasses him in this film. The film itself is surprisingly atmospheric and extremely interesting to follow. Maybe a bit boring at times.
The beginning was the strongest, then the film loses some power, but towards the end it is a bit stronger again. Extremely captivating film by Shyamalan, who outdoes himself quite a bit here. Worn by McAvoy indeed, but yes, good return.

Heard and read a lot of enthusiasm, but in my opinion a very mediocre film.
The story is not original, but seems interesting.
Yet at first I get a bit of a teenage movie feeling like scream. Bad acting and bad choices the characters make.
James McAvoy is in my opinion too much honored for what he did, it wasn't that special. 2 x fleeting female character, often a small child, 2 male characters who were superficial and the same and finally The Beast. The rest of the so-called 23 personalities were not discussed.
I also thought he was very similar to Edward Norton, but he plays much better roles in this genre. Anya Taylor-joy was the only one who played credible.
Yet you keep waiting for an exciting course and the why, with a possibly shocking ending.
This shocking ending came, but not as hoped.
Suddenly the plot turns into something very bad and unrealistic.
Also the fragments of what happened to Casey do not fit at all in the atmosphere of the film. It was clear that The Beast probably needed virgins, but Casey's abuse was totally inappropriate for that. Also, the end of the film is actually about Casey making a decision to deal with her past, which makes the actual story go out like a candle.
As a so-called funny reference, Bruce Willis still has to save the film in the very last shot, but that didn't work out as far as I'm concerned...
