The Loves of Carmen plot
"The most daring picture of a daring heroine and her reckless loves"
Seville, circa 1820. Carmen is a gypsy girl who works in a cigar factory and is adored by Lieutenant Don José. But he has competition from half the male population of Spain. Carmen meets her male counterpart, the famous matador Escamillo, who makes all women swoon. But he doesn't pay her any attention. Then Carmen also ends up in prison because of an argument at work. Don José is so in love with her that he lets her escape, but because of this he is severely punished himself.
