"How do you get the man who has everything?"
Billionaire Thomas Crown is tired of buying anything he wants. However, there are some things he can't get that give him a special hobby: stealing valuable artifacts. After stealing a famous painting by Claude Monet, he gets an insurance investigator after him, who finds out who the culprit is. Remake of the 1968 film of the same name.

From McTiernan, Predator and The Hunt for Red October have been on my watch list for an eternity, I didn't even know The Thomas Crown Affair until Netflix reported to me yesterday that 'we' had a 98% match. I decided to go into the film completely ignorant and was surprised afterwards that McTiernan is the director.
The film is not top of its kind, but it is certainly a nice film, the plot is well thought out but not bursting with challenge, which makes it somewhat long-winded. This is somewhat compensated by the sound that is incredibly present and strong, the music gives the film an extra push.
I had never seen Brosnan in a non-action movie before but he positively surprised me, he plays his part convincingly and has the charm that goes with the character. Rene Russo was less appealing to me, I prefer to see her in a smaller role.

Admittedly, I really needed some time to get into the movie. At first I didn't think Russo was very well cast, but gradually I found it less disturbing. As far as I'm concerned an excellent combination of crime and romance, both genres come out well. *3.5
