The Escapist plot

Frank Perry (Brian Cox) has been serving a life sentence for years. When his daughter, whom he has barely known, becomes seriously ill, Frank is determined to make amends with her before it is too late. He develops an ingenious escape plan and surrounds himself with a group of prisoners who want to escape with them. The criminals don't like each other very much, but are connected by a common urge to escape.

Anyone expecting an escape story from A to Z will have left the room, because the constant time jumps make it difficult to follow, however ingenious some may find this technique.
Moreover, the film never succeeds in evoking emotion, despite the fact that the purpose of the event has a sensitive cause.
Character drawing is superficial, like in an ordinary adventure film.
"Imagination keeps us alive" I remembered and is perhaps an answer to the questions one can ask about the structure of this film.

The film mixes 2 storylines. The escape and the way to it. It gives the whole thing something original, but it doesn't help the story. It can't hide the fact that the script is rather sparse and the cast never really shines. The 2 older actors Brian Cox and Liam Cunningham
are still worth the effort, but the rest is boring or just a caricature. For a moment it was nice to see some familiar faces from series like Game of Thrones, Homeland and Iron Man's Dad. But that's about all. A colorless prison film that cannot match the many other films in the genre.
