Diego Armando Maradona was born on October 30, 1960 in the slums of Buenos Aires. He is considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time. He was nicknamed 'El Pibe de Oro', or 'The Boy of Gold'. In 1986 he led Argentina to the world title. Football experts believe that one of the greatest goals in history was scored at this World Cup when Maradona dribbled past six players against England and then scored. This documentary features never-before-seen footage from Maradona's youth, countless match clips and unique material from Maradona's private archive. The film shows why Maradona was voted the best footballer of the century in 2000. Maradona's turbulent life story is marked by childhood poverty, stadium spotlights, dubious relations with the mafia, drugs and politics, a tumultuous love life, and lots and lots of money.
